So I got my hair "did" again. This time, professionally. When I did it myself, it took me 3 days, which caused my fingers to cramp up along w/hangnails. Not fun. I'm digging the new look. The length is good, and I'm not minding the big size braids. Overall, I'm pleased. My goal is to stay in protective styles until I muster up some noticeable length.

Braided "out" (6th month mark)
It's November (6 months), still trucking...
So I had my braids in for about a month and a half. They started to get a bit old, and I wanted to get them done over! I'm surprised at the growth I got in so little time. I'm pleased to say the least!
Look at my little twa. It's coming along!

Braided up
Took me a while, but I was able to grab the little bit that I had. What do you think? I was inspired by Beyonce and Solange:)

Braids. Yay or Nay
So we're in September (month 4). I'll be honest, I've waited for this month impatiently so that I could finally put braids in my hair..as a protective style. But by the look of its length, I feel it has a wee bit more growing to do. I've been od'ing on the headband look, which I love
btw. I was able to put the headband up a little higher on my head, and realized, "Hey, this twa is a growing."

S l o w l y but Surely
So it’s August (month 3).
Attached are some photos from a shoot I took last month, July. Shout out to Joseph Domonick Photography! I’m hoping by September that I can put my hair in a protective style (braids) and that this will help promote growth.

Headband Ready?
It's July (month 2). Yay, I can finally use a headband while not looking completely silly. I can actually notice growth. By September, my hair should be ready for braids/extensions.

TWA
It’s June (month 1!) and I’m rocking my twa (teeny weeny afro). I’m starting to notice a little bit of growth now, and have developed the habit of constantly rubbing my hair. I like the feel of the little curls. I have to admit, I’m still antsy. Still impatient that the process is taking long. I have so many hair style ideas “in my back pocket”. I’m actually looking fwd to “headband hair”, that should be by late August I think. Finally I’ll be able to transition into a different hair style.
I found this pic on instagram, and realized I’m not alone!

The "Big Chop"
Me being the impatient person that I am (working on that), I cut my hair after a fresh perm, hence no new growth. And in my head, I wanted to see and feel some new growth, I mean, I’m going ‘natural’ right?? All I had, after washing my hair was…spikes! Yup, spikey hair. No bueno. But after a few weeks, I was able to muster a little bit of new growth. I got excited, and decided to cut my hair again, I did, as they say, the Big Chop”. I also decided to add a lil color.

I Cut My Hair!
After much debate, and months of “should I” or “should I not”, I decided to cut my hair! I had been reading hair blogs, and had been watching from the sidelines, my best friends journey…and was amazed at how much her hair has grown since her “big chop”. I was looking at a recent photo of her hair (Maxine..lol), and without hesitation grabbed a pair of scissors, grabbed a lock of hair..and then..proceeded to cut! After the first few cuts, I looked in the mirror and said, “Jacita, what the heck did you just do?? At this point there was no turning back, I had to cut the rest. My husband was with me, and to my surprise, was cheering me on. Being married to me for almost 8 years, he was fully aware of my hair woes. I was an addict. Addicted to the “creamy crack…yes the PERM! But, it was taking out my hair, therefore, not allowing it to grow. I knew that if I wanted length, I would have to go natural..and that would mean..no more relaxers! And after months of tossing the idea around in my head, I decided to pick up the scissors and cut before I could change my mind. Here is the result…after curling it:)
